Appraisal examination of cultural property - an examination carried out on behalf of the customer in order to establish the actual value of the object of appraisal.
The main purpose of the appraisal examination is to provide independent and objective information on the classification, nomenclature value of works of art and antiques and to calculate the appraised value of works of art and antiques.
Evaluation of works of art and antiques is meaningless without establishing the authenticity of the evaluated work, therefore, before proceeding with the evaluation, a comprehensive examination of the works of art and antiques is carried out.
To achieve this goal, the following is carried out:
- processing of information provided by the customer about the work of art and antiques;
- identification and attribution of the object of expertise;
- classification definition of the object of examination;
- determination of the consumer value of works of art and antiques: the expert assessment takes into account the state of market prices published in various reference sources, including auctions of cultural property that offer rarities for sale, these are, first of all, Christie and Sotheby's in London and New York. In these largest world centers of trade in works of art, their market value is being formed;
- gemological examination of precious stones, precious stones of organic formation, semi-precious and decorative stones;
- determination of the base cost of the object of examination;
- determination of the value of works of art and antiques at the date of valuation;
- preparation of the assessment protocol;
- drawing up an expert opinion.
The appraisal examination of cultural property is not only an expert determination of the real price, but also the process of creating an appraisal report that strictly complies with laws, international standards and norms. The assessment is always based on objectively confirmed information.
