According to Article 2 of the Law of Ukraine "On Political Parties in Ukraine", a political party is a voluntary association of citizens registered in accordance with the law - supporters of a certain national program of social development, which aims to promote the formation and expression of the political will of citizens, participates in elections and other political events.
The Law of Ukraine "On Political Parties in Ukraine" establishes a legal definition of the concept of a political party, establishes the procedure for creating and terminating the activities of parties, specifies the basic principles of their organizational structure, forms of participation in political life, sources of funding, and the like.
Relations between the state and political parties are based on the principles of partnership and legality. The state recognizes the importance of public initiative, acts as a guarantor of the observance of rights, provides legal, informational, organizational support to political parties registered in the manner prescribed by the current legislation.
